This Privacy Policy explains how Webective ("we", "our", "us") handles information when you use our browser extension ("Service").

1. Data Storage & Handling

• All extension data is stored locally on your device using the browser's local extension storage. The extension does not use browser synchronization services to sync your data across devices.
• The extension does not transmit your data to our servers or any third party. We do not use analytics, tracking, or external services to collect user data.
• Layouts can be exported locally in an encoded format for convenient storage and portability. This encoding is intended for data formatting and is not encryption.

2. Your Data & Layouts

The extension stores only the information needed to provide its layout management functionality, including:

• Layout names.
• Layout creation and last-update dates.
• Notes written by you.
• Browser-provided window and tab information, including tab URLs and titles, window positions, and window sizes.
• Extension settings and preferences.

The extension can store local file URLs (such as URLs pointing to PDF documents or other files opened in browser tabs) as part of saved layouts. This allows layouts to preserve tabs displaying local files. To make local file URLs available to the extension, the user must enable the browser's "Allow access to file URLs" setting for the extension. The extension stores the URL as part of the saved tab information and does not read, modify, upload, or process the contents of the referenced files.

All layout data, including saved tab URLs, window information, notes, and extension settings, is stored locally on your device. The extension does not transmit this data to us or any third party.

Saved tab URLs may contain information embedded in their addresses, such as search terms or other query parameters. Please consider this when saving layouts containing sensitive URLs.

3. Layout Deletion & User Controls

• You can manually delete individual layouts and export your layout data for backup or portability.
• Removing or uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored extension data as part of the browser's normal extension lifecycle.
• Separately exported files, copies saved elsewhere, and data retained in browser or device backups may remain after the extension is removed.

4. Security & Privacy

• The extension uses browser permissions to access the tab and window information needed to save and restore layouts and to store extension settings and layouts locally.
• The extension declares optional host permission for file:// URLs to support saving and restoring tabs that display local files. Access to these URLs depends on the user's browser settings. The extension uses the URLs only as tab information when saving and restoring layouts. It does not read, modify, upload, or process the contents of the referenced local files.
• These permissions are used to provide the extension's functionality. They are not used to collect personal information for us.
• Your layout data is not transmitted to us or shared with third parties. Its security depends on the security of your device and any locations where you choose to store exported files.
• Exported data is encoded for portability, but it is not encrypted or intended to provide confidentiality. Keep exported files in a location appropriate for the information they contain.
• The extension contains no advertisements and does not add or open any hardcoded advertising, promotional, or other websites during layout restoration. It restores the tabs and URLs saved in your layouts. If a saved layout contains an advertising or promotional tab, that tab will be restored like any other saved tab.

5. Children's Privacy

The extension is not designed for users under the age of 13.

6. Updates to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when necessary. Any changes will be reflected on this page, along with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
